Workgroup/Domain Management

Endpoint user machines that are setup with AlertBoot security are required to be included in trusted workgroups and domains. Registered endpoint users are provided a secure URL and instructions to download encryption software. When these users access the URL, AlertBoot verifies if the user/machine workgroup/domain is a trusted domain. If so, the user is setup for AlertBoot. If not, the domain is automatically changed to a trusted workgroup/domain.

Note:  See Verifying WorkGroup/Domain on a PC for instructions on how endpoint users can verify what workgroup/domain their devices are configured for.

AlertBoot Administrators can setup workgroups/domains for an organization on AlertBoot. Once the domains are setup on AlertBoot for an organization, they are recognized as trusted domains for endpoint user machine association. Workgroups/domains that are not setup in AlertBoot are considered untrusted domains by AlertBoot.

To setup workgroups/domains for endpoint devices:

  1. Click Setup | Endpoint PC Workgroups/Domains | Workgroup/Domain Management from the menu.

The Endpoint Device Workgroups/Active Directory Configuration screen is displayed.

  1. In the Add/Update Windows WorkGroup or Active Directory Domain panel, enter the new workgroup/domain to add and click on Add.

  2. Select the Make Primary? checkbox if the domain you are adding should be the primary domain.

When a domain is selected to be primary, it is the domain that AlertBoot uses to replace the un-trusted domains on endpoint devices. For example, if Janjura is selected as the primary domain, and an endpoint device is detected to have a domain other than those in List of Workgroups/Domains, it will be replaced with Janjura.

  3. The Workgroup/domain is added to List of Workgroups/Domains. If the domain was identified as primary, a check mark will be displayed against this domain under Primary.

  4. From the Endpoint Device Workgroup/Active Directory Configuration screen, you can edit or deleted existing domains.

  5. To edit an existing domain, click Edit next to the domain you want to edit.

  6. The domain name appears on the Add/Update Windows WorkGroup or Active Directory Domain panel.

  7. Change the domain name and click Update.

  8. To delete a domain from List of Workgroups/Domains, click Del against the domain to delete.

The domain is deleted, after confirmation, provided:

    1. The domain does not have any endpoint devices associated with it.

    2. The domain is not marked as primary.
