Authentication policies enable you to set or determine access restrictions to a machine when the machine remains idle or inactive for a certain period, or resumes work from Standby mode. It also enables you to set the number of times a user can log on with a wrong password before getting locked out from the AlertBoot-protected system.
To specify the authentication restrictions for endpoint users in an AlertBoot-protected system:
Click Users/Machines
on the AlertBoot home page.
Click Setup on the left navigation panel of the Users/Machines page, and then Authentication Policies option under Setup.
The Authentication Policy screen is displayed.
You can set the following authentication specifications to the end user:
Screen Inactivity Lockout: Enter the number of minutes after which the screen automatically gets locked if the machine is not in use. For example, if you enter 30, the machine gets automatically locked and the screen saver gets activated after 30 inactive minutes. If you do not want to lock the screen, enter 0 "zero".
Lock Screen after Resume: Select option Yes if you want to lock the screen after resuming the computer from standby/hibernation mode. The user will then require to enter the user name and the password again to unlock the system from the standby/hibernation mode. Enter option No if you do not want the screen to be locked.
Maximum Number of Failed Logons: Specify the number of times the endpoint user can attempt to log on with invalid credentials before getting locked out from the system and a recovery is needed. The default and the minimum figure is 10 times. If you do not want to set restrictions to the number of logons, enter 0 "zero" in the above box to disable this feature.
